We are having a baby – Name Reveal
Finding out we were expecting!
Life has been so busy since my last post. I sat down on the morning of December 10th to write a post detailing our journey on trying to conceive and asking for prayers and good vibes our way. Every time I tried to publish my post I kept getting an error message. I guess that was God’s way on saying, hang of it’s coming, because later that night on a whim (I say a whim because I hadn’t missed my period yet), and just because I had really been feeling like it was our month in my heart, I took a pregnancy test and it had the faintest little line. I knew it in my heart but you still want like 100% confirmation, I took 3 more of the little test strips and I had one stick pregnancy test I found in the back of the cabinet in my bathroom, all 5 tests had 2 lines, Blake was still not convinced, “I think he just didn’t want to get his hopes up if it wasn’t happening.” Of course I knew it was happening… you don’t get 5 false positives! The next morning, I got up and went to the gym per my usual routine, when I was done I walked next door and picked up a digital pregnancy test. When I got home I took it and it of course it said pregnant. EEKSS!!! When we first decided we were ready to try for a baby, I wanted to think of a cute way to tell him when it actually happened, I made the cutest little onesie that said, “littlest DAWGS fan”! Everyone knows even the best made plans don’t always work out, because in the moment when I saw those lines on the test I couldn’t help but tell him! So I sent Blake a picture of the digital test that said pregnant and the little onesie I had made months ago. He’s still so excited, well we all are, Brody cannot wait to be a big brother!
First doctors appointment and finding out gender.
I started researching doctors, because the doctor I used with Brody no longer practices and I finally found the perfect doctor. We found out we were pregnant on December 10th and our first appointment was on January 28th. This was literally the longest stretch of time and it wasn’t just me that felt that way, there were so many post on social media about how slow January was going by. January 28th, I decided to go ahead and send Brody to school, because we went out of town for Thanksgiving and he missed some days and I didn’t want him to miss more than he has to. He said he was fine with it, but Blake and I were headed out of town and the school called and said Brody threw up and he wasn’t feeling good. So we turned around and went to the school and picked him up, he was fine the rest of the day, he never even acted sick, he even requested Chick-Fil-A. I honestly think it was just nerves and he really wanted to be at the doctor with us, so off we went. Since I was estimated to be 11 weeks I didn’t have to do a vaginal sonogram, so the boys and I sat quietly as the doctor looked for our sweet baby. We all saw him on the big screen, then the doctor turned the sound on and we got to hear his precious strong heartbeat, of course I cried, because that’s just who I am. I cannot explain to you how good it felt to hear that I had a healthy happy baby growing inside of me. After we were done with our pictures I let the doctor know that I wanted the blood test done to determine gender, so the tech came in and drew my blood and told me the results should take about a week.
Finding out gender and picking a name
The following Monday, February 4th, I got the call and they said all of the genetic screening was perfect. Would I like to know gender? I was like YES, I’ve been waiting an entire week for this! We had already decided since Blake’s parents were in Georgia we didn’t want to do a gender reveal party. We still wanted to find a fun way to announce it to our family and friends. So like any woman does I got on Pinterest for some inspiration, I found a cute picture that said Pistols or Pearls. I knew I wanted to incorporate Brody in the mix and Brody got his first B.B. gun for Christmas, so I made a board that said Shotguns or Shopping, bought black balloons, I filled them with paint and we let Brody shoot them and filmed it to share with our family and friends. Oh and it was a surprise for Brody as well, he was so happy to find out he was having a little brother!
Name Reveal
We have racked our brains for weeks trying to come up with the perfect name for our sweet boy and we decided on Zander Blaze Cook, but we are going to call him Blaze. Stay tuned for more updates on my pregnancy!
