Spring Break 2018 Was a Success!
Good morning beautiful people, a couple weeks ago I wrote a post on DFW Spring Family Activities in honor of Spring Break, you can see the original post, here. My sister hung out with Brody and I most of Spring Break, and we did a lot of the DFW Family Spring Activities from my original post. We didn’t make it to the Reunion Tower Geo-Deck or Epic Waters. Epic Waters was completely sold out and it has rave reviews, so we definitely have an Epic Waters trip in our future.
Day 1 Spring Break 2018 Urban Air
On Monday, I had a class at work I had to attend. Afterwards, Brody, Gillian, and I met up with my best friend Amy and her kids for lunch at McAllister’s Deli and then we went to Urban Air. We had a blast, Brody literally loves this place. We jumped, did flips, dunked basketballs, did the obstacle course, and dodgeball. I burned nearly 700 calories in an hour and a half, I may have to forgo the gym a couple days a week for the trampoline park! It was a great time, Brody wore himself out and slept so good that night!
Day 2 Spring Break 2018 Movies & Farm Luck
On Tuesday, Brody and I got up and hit the gym, then we head to Waxahachie to see Peter Rabbit. Peter Rabbit was so cute, a feel good comedy that had us laughing the entire movie. Afterwards we went to Farm Luck, a new restaurant we have both been wanting to try. Farm Luck is like a blast from the past, it’s an old fashioned soda fountain. Farm Luck is in a cute little spot in the heart of downtown Waxahachie, it’s located directly on the square across from the Old Courthouse. Farm Luck serves simple sandwiches, classic sundaes, floats, and more. If you are in Waxahachie check them out, you will not be disappointed.
Day 3 Spring Break 2018 Deep Ellum: Serious Pizza and Chills 360
On Wednesday, we did some exploring in Deep Ellum. Our first stop was Serious Pizza we have been once before and loved it. Brody is always asking to go back, so what better time then spring break. Serious Pizza is exactly what it sounds like, Serious Pizza! The slices at Serious Pizza are so big they have to be served on two plates. Gillian went with the classic Pepperoni, Brody got Barcbecue Chicken, and I went with Pepperoni, Onions, Bell Peppers, and Black Olives, everything was delicious. Serious Pizza is known for it’s ginormous pizza slices, but Brody loves the Ninja Turtles mural on the wall. After we left we were walking down Elm St. checking out the sites and the graffiti’d buildings that Deep Ellum is famous for and Brody said, Mom watch out you can’t step on that! I looked down and it was a man hole, I said why B? He whispered, Mom… that’s where the Ninja Turtles live! 😂 I died laughing, he’s hilarious, gosh I love my son! So we made our way down the street and had to stop in at Chills 360, they make the rolled ice cream that the internet has been crazed over, and let me tell you, I think it’s worth the hype. It’s not overly indulgent even though they have an indulgent menu, it’s just the right amount to leave you satisfied, but not feeling like oh man, what have I done. Brody and I shared the Pinky Promise, it has strawberry and graham crackers mixed in, topped with a graham cracker, fresh sliced strawberry, a twizzler, and strawberry drizzle. I of course took off all of the extras except the strawberry, you know I’m trying to still be health conscious while eating ice cream. 😂 Gillian got the Cookie Monster which has Oreo mixed in, topped with an Oreo, chocolate drizzle, and cocoa puffs, it looked amazing, I will have to try that one next time!
Day 4 Spring Break 2018 Babe’s Chicken Dinner House
On Thursday, Brody, Gillian, and I went to Babe’s Chicken Dinner House in Cedar Hill. We love Babe’s Chicken, the chicken tenders are so amazing and don’t get me started on the jalapeno honey mustard, it’s seriously so good. I may make re-creating the jalapeno honey mustard my next mission. Babe’s has a cute eclectic patio area for you to hang out while waiting for your table or the rest of your party to arrive. Babe’s is a family style restaurant, you pick a meat and they bring everything else, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, corn, salad, and the best biscuits known to man. If you have not had Babe’s, stop what you are doing and go there now!
Day 5 Spring Break 2018 Perot Museum and Klyde Warren Park
On Friday, Blake took off work early and met Brody, Gillian, and I at the Perot Museum. We paid general admission to the museum and added on the Journey to Space Expedition, we loved it. There are so many things to take in and activities to do, it was busy, but it was the last day of spring break so that was expected. After we went through the Journey to Space Expedition, we went upstairs to check out the dinosaur fossils, Brody loved this floor. Then we walked a few blocks up to the Klyde Warren Deck Park, to try out the food trucks for lunch. The food trucks did not disappoint. Brody and Gillian had pizza from the Yummy Pizza Food Truck, it looked amazing. Blake and I got tacos from the Texas Burrito Company, we shared several different tacos, we wanted to try them all. My absolute favorite was “The Alamo”, I was a little hesitant to try it because it has pineapple habanero salsa, but it was delicious and had just a hint of heat from the habanero, it was perfect. Afterwards we cooled off with some ice cream from Cool Haus ice cream truck. Brody, Gillian, and I had the strawberry ice cream and Blake had the chocolate sorbet. We all loved the ice cream, especially because it was served with a wooden stick spoon that transported Blake and I back to our childhood.
Brody and I loved all the time we got to spend together on spring break, and we can’t wait for our next adventure.
