DFW Spring Family Activities
Can you believe it’s March, and spring break is already here? This year is just flying by so quickly. I have been tossing around the idea of doing a blog post on family spring activities around DFW for a while now. When I realized spring break is next week, I figured it’s now or never. There’s literally so much to do and see in DFW. I have lived in the DFW area my entire life and there are still some things I’ve never done. B and I have some exploring to do this spring break, and I can’t wait!
Epic Waters in Grand Prairie
We are going to kick off spring break Monday and Tuesday with weather in the sixties. The sun will be out, but if you’re planning outdoor activities, don’t forget your jacket. With that being said, I wanted to find something we could do no matter what the weather decides, because we all know Texas is known to have crazy weather. I’ve wanted to take B to the new Epic Waters indoor waterpark in Grand Prairie since it opened. Epic Waters is an 80,000 square foot indoor/outdoor waterpark that is open year round. The tickets are a little more expensive if you’re not a resident of Grand Prairie, but you would probably spend the same at the movies after purchasing snacks, and it’s a waterpark!
Klyde Warren Deck Park
Let’s start this off with, I have never been to the deck park! I know this is unbelievable since I’m a foodie, and the Klyde Warren Deck Park is known for it’s amazing food trucks. The week of spring break they have several outdoor activities planned, the two that I think B would enjoy to most are Imagination Playground on Tuesday and Downtown Recess on Friday. Imagination Playground, where they can build a new world every time with larger-than-life blocks from 10am to 12pm. Downtown Recess, is exactly what it sounds like, dodgeball, foursquare, tug of war, and more. Parents are welcome to join their kids and relive their youth. This sounds like something I would love to do, have fun with B while getting in some cardio. It just so happens, the food trucks will be at the park on Tuesday and Friday. No matter which day we go, I will finally get to try them out, mom-win!
Picnic at Getzendaner Park
We are gearing up to have beautiful spring weather the rest of the week, that’s perfect for outdoor activities. I don’t know about you, but when the sun is shining and a nice breeze is blowing, I can’t help but get outside and enjoy it. I love the spring, the weather is perfect not too hot not too cool, just right! I live South of DFW and my go to park is Getzendaner in Waxahachie. Getzendaner Park is beautiful 33 acre park surrounded by trees, trails for exploring, multiple playground areas, and plenty of room to lay down a blanket and have a picnic. With so much to offer, your little one will surely find something to keep them entertained. I can’t think of a better way to spend a beautiful spring day!
Urban Air Trampoline Park
Brody’s favorite thing to do is go to the trampoline park. Anytime Blake and I ask B what he wants to do, his response is always, “oh I have a great idea, let’s go to the trampoline park”. It’s an inexpensive fun way to spend your afternoon. Make it a challenge and see how many calories you can burn while you’re there. Urban Air has several spring break promotions, one is a $39.99 Ultimate Access pass good for 2.5 hours a day Monday-Friday.
Reunion Tower Geo-Deck
The Reunion Tower Geo-Deck offers a gorgeous view of the Dallas skyline. The week of spring break they’re having various activities, a magician, bingo, story time, and even live zoo animals. You can purchase a general admission ticket to see the entertainment of the day. Reunion Tower is also offering a spring break special called the Sights & Bites Combo, that includes the performance, lunch at the Cloud 9 Café, and more.
